About EmbodyXR®
EmbodyXR® is an immersive Virtual Reality dance art experience, aimed at raising mental health awareness & mitigating anxiety in Young People aged 13-25. Having matured from a Proof of Concept phase, we will now be delivering a midlands regional tour across Coventry, Nuneaton, Leicester & Birmingham, involving specific groups from schools, universities & libraries. Each group will play a pivotal role in the project’s co-creation, as we work alongside these audiences/participants, our artists, designers, and partners to realise our ambitions. Our future roadmap includes strategic business modelling so longer term we can develop an international version of EmbodyXR®, for play at home release on App stores.

About Us

We Move People. At Mercurial Dance we believe that dance has the power to change lives, and that if more people danced, for pleasure, and discovered their movement voices they (and the world) will be a happier, healthier place. To inspire this we create shows, run workshops and make digital experiences that get people moving.

We’ve been working in the cultural fringes since our foundation 20 years ago. We seed creative and cultural opportunities in the least culturally engaged communities and use them to transform people and places. Our relationship with our audiences is non-hierarchical. We talk their cultural language, and create work around cultural common points. We also work in their places, targeting audiences and participants who have never walked into a venue and are unlikely to do so. We want every family to benefit from high-quality art, and to achieve this, we take art to places it isn’t normally found and in formats that resonate with these communities.

The company works across the Midlands and beyond. We run a ‘best practice’ arts education and participation programme, offering c.840 children from some of the regions’ most disadvantaged communities, creative opportunities in dance and other artforms. We also create site-specific performance events in non-traditional performance spaces, and tour small-scale dance works to festivals & outdoor arts. Our performance work aims to get audiences moving and moved. Our audiences aren’t passively seated in rows; we aim to create work that moves – engages them physically and imaginatively, and that connects them to each other and to the places they live. www.mercurialdance.co.uk
