EmbodyXR® is an immersive, dance art game that uses physical movement and digital storytelling to reduce the impact of anxiety in young people.
EmbodyXR® engages players in mindful movement through a series of challenges that draw upon choreographed movement, high performance management and cognitive behavioural techniques. Completing the activities in the fully-immersive 3D environments via a Virtual Reality headset encourages focus and self-reflection and aims to reduce the physical manifestations of the Flight/Fight/Freeze response (FFFR) in people with anxiety.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
EmbodyXR™ is primarily designed for young people aged 13 -25 initially used as an awareness and educational tool for young people who experience/are yet to experience anxiety symptoms.
Mental Health in Young People
A recent study from Mind the Mental Health Charity reported that over 31% of young people aged 16-24 reported evidence of anxiety or depression (up 26% year on year). Of this number, the majority of young people said that turning to support from their school was their first step.
Partnerships with Schools
EmbodyXR plans to provide a safe space for young people to understand their mental health through mediums that are familiar to them: a VR game and mobile app.
Developed with Researchers
The game helps to destigmatize mental health, helping young people to navigate and understand their feelings through relatable games based on evidence research through our partners at Warwick Medical School.
Industry Partnerships & Grants
We are in partnership with Warwick Medical School, Dr. D. Biggerstaff who underpins the academic foundation on health psychology, and University of Creative Arts, Director of Games and Technology, Prof. S. Smith for knowledge transfer in immersive technologies.
EmbodyXR has a profile raising tour confirmed for 2024 to exhibit in libraries across Coventry and Warwickshire, supported by Arts Council England and we will be extending this to include universities across the Midlands as part of the tour.
