Seeking Artist Educators – Disciplines – Music Technology – Video Creation – Digital Arts

We are seeking artist educators to work with our primary education programme delivering

We are recruiting roles for:

Music technologist/music production artists composing and Dj’ing

Video/content creation inspiring the children to create, communicate and tell stories in video social media/shortform styles.

for our in-depth participatory arts project called Every Child Is An Artist. 

We are expanding our team and would like to hear from freelance artists with experience in leading music composition workshops with Apple’s Garageband, and potentially Dj’ing with Ableton Live or similar ipad apps. The aim is to inspire and introduce the children into working creatively with sound composition.

We are looking for someone to start September 2023 (1 day per week) for the autumn term at our partner primary school in Birmingham and have ongoing opportunities following this. 

Every Child Is An Artist is a nationally groundbreaking programme to develop the artistic skills and abilities of all the children in our partner primary schools, across the different art disciplines. We are developing an arts curriculum in our primary schools delivered by practicing artists, working at the forefront of arts educational practice. We are looking for Digital Artists to join the team and expand on the work already undertaken.

Each term we work towards a performance, exhibition or event (inc. online) that connects with the friends and families of the children. Our website www.mercurialdance.co.uk has short films about the project.

Equipment Available

The school has a good technical resource with all students having an iPad with Garageband/imovie, ableton live, & other music apps, headphones and sound equipment for performances. There is a materials budget available to support workshops.

Term time on Tuesdays  W/c 4 September 2023 + additional opportunities 2024 academic year.

Location: Birmingham UK

Fee from £250-£295 per day,(inc VAT); self employed basis dependent on experience; plus planning time and materials
